About us

We are a boutique consultancy company specialized in the Chilean legal market. Its founding members have personally interviewed more than 6,000 attorneys - candidates working in the main legal and consultancy firms, companies and state agencies in the country, and have successfully participated in more than 300 selection processes for different employers (be they companies, firms or other) involving lawyers of all ages, specialties and areas of practice.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive solutions in the area of ​​legal recruitment for both our clients and candidates, advise attorneys in the development of their career plans and provide firm merger and partner recruitment services, using our in-depth knowledge of the legal market.

Our vision is to facilitate the professional development of attorneys in Chile, both in highly complex selection processes, firm mergers and partner recruitment as well as in the provision of specialized advice to clients and lawyers.

Recruitment Service

Through this completely free service, an attorney is able to send us his/her CV and information, which will be processed and handled with absolute confidentiality. From then on, such attorney may be considered for purposes of the recruitment processes conducted by our company.

1. Legal Recruitment


Our attorney search and selection service essentially comprises 3 stages:

Profiling: this is the most delicate stage, where the specific guidelines and specifications of the human and technical profile sought will be established in detail.

Hunting: once the aforementioned profile has been drawn up, our team will quickly, effectively and specifically search the precise candidates that fit the position both amongst the thousands of lawyers we know as well as those whom we still do not know -but know where to find.

Offer and contract follow-up: once the winning candidate has been selected, we will support our client in drafting and delivering the offer letter, and carry out a follow-up with both client and candidate regarding the outcome of such hire.

2. Attorney Career Advisory Service / Outplacement


Within our purpose of managing legal human talent, we provide attorneys with a boutique service designed to analyze, in depth, their experience, specialty, skills and personal characteristics, in order to evaluate their potential and the various alternatives that the legal market can offer them, thus jointly developing a prospective career plan.

Our purpose is to guide attorneys and give them the best tools and strategies possible, so that they can position themselves in the labor market in the most competitive way according to their professional profile. As this service is separate from that of recruitment, all counseled attorneys that wish to participate in our recruitment processes must be evaluated by a consultant other than the one who advised them, in order to guarantee the utmost impartiality and objectivity of all our processes.

3. Firm Mergers and Partner Recruitment

Due to the growing interest of legal firms to formally or informally incorporate new areas of practice, and in turn, the increasingly frequent interest of partners to seek new employment alternatives, we have created the boutique service Firm Mergers and Partner Recruitment. It involves an in-depth and personalized analysis of the
requesting partner or law firm, which combines the appreciation of all its intrinsic aspects with the style, human quality and personal vision of its members. The purpose of this service is to identify the factors that determine the essential characteristics of a partner or legal firm and the search for another partner, firm or legal team that can thus jointly generate synergies. This service ranges from the potential union of a single partner with another partner to the potential union of a partner with a law firm or vice versa.

Matías Ortuzar

Matías Ortúzar
Executive Director

Matías is a consultant and advisor specialized in the legal market. He holds extensive experience in hunting and recruiting attorneys of all ages and specialties for the main companies and legal firms in the country, and has advised hundreds of attorneys in the development of their career plans and paths. He graduated with honors from the Universidad Gabriela Mistral School of Law in Chile. Matías worked over ten years as Process Manager at Idealis Legal Recruitment, a boutique legal recruitment firm located in Santiago. He has personally interviewed more than 3,000 lawyers and has led hundreds of recruitment processes for several positions such as local and regional CLO, legal manager, legal assistant manager, and partners, junior and senior associates, both for legal firms and for local and multinational companies. He currently teaches in the Diploma Legal Management Program of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, where he has also participated as a guest speaker in the Legal Work Methodology course of its LLM Program.

Daniela Maino

Daniela Maino
Director of Consultancy and Processes

Daniela holds a JD from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is admitted to the Chilean bar. She also has a diploma in Compliance and Good Corporate Practices from her alma mater (2020) and a specialization course in Competences for the Management of Labor Inclusion in Companies from Universidad de Los Andes, Chile (2021). She has over 12 years of legal experience in prestigious local law firms (Estudio Etcheberry and Carey y Cía.) and companies (Corporate Chief Attorney of the Tattersall Group Prosecutor's Office), and has dedicated over 7 years to legal recruitment, consultancy and career advisory. Between 2016 and 2020, Daniela worked as senior consultant at Idealis Legal Recruitment, where she interviewed, advised and recruited attorneys. As from August 2020, she is the Director of Consultancy and Processes at Ortúzar Consulting. Daniela has also participated as a panelist and speaker in various talks, seminars and forums related to the legal market. She is currently studying at ECORE (Rafael Echeverría School of Ontological Coaching) to obtain the Newfield Consulting Ontological Coach certification.

Maureen Ravilet

Maureen Ravilet
Firm Mergers/Partner Recruitment Director

Maureen holds a JD from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an LLM from The University of Chicago, and is admitted to the Chilean bar. She has over 22 years of professional experience in the private sector. She worked in the financial/corporate area at local law firm Carey y Cía., and later on at multinational power generator Pacific Hydro on different positions, including Legal Manager, focusing her practice on corporate issues, project financing, regulations, and compliance. She subsequently worked at Idealis Legal Recruitment as a consultant, interviewing and analyzing candidates and meeting with clients for different attorney recruitment processes, and then as of counsel, advising lawyers in career planning. She then went into private practice at Jordán Ravilet Abogados in corporate, real estate and water rights matters, after which she created and became Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance of multinational salmon farming company Cermaq Chile. She then joined local salmon farming company Caleta Bay as Legal Manager. Since 2021, she has worked as of counsel at Ortúzar Consulting, focused on recruitment processes for multinational companies and foreign clients, and also in the firm mergers/partner recruitment area as of 2023.

Camila Jordan

Camila Jordán
Senior Consultant

Camila holds a JD from Universidad Central (Chile), and is admitted to the Chilean bar. She also holds a Labor Law and Social Security diploma and a Compliance and Good Corporate Practices diploma, both from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has over 17 years of professional experience in the private and public sector. She worked in the litigation area of local law firm Carey & Cia., and went into private practice at Jordán Ravilet Abogados, focusing mainly in labor consultancies. Camila has also extensive experience in senior management positions within the public sector in the Labor area, holding the positions of Los Lagos Regional Director and then Deputy National Director of Labor, promoting compliance with labor, social security and H&S regulations. She joined Ortúzar Consulting in 2023 as a senior consultant in recruitment processes. Camila is also currently studying a master's degree in Political Communications and Public Affairs at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (Chile). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Commission of Expert Lawyers of the Chilean Bar Association, and is a member of its Labor and Social Security Commission.

Owen Bull
Administrator

Owen is an industrial civil engineer with a Diploma in Transportation Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He also holds a Master in Engineering Services degree (transportation and logistics engineering area) from his alma mater. He joined Ortúzar Consulting as administrator in 2022.
